FITNESSWelcome to SLS Fitness Boot Camp program!
Indoor at SLS Fitness and Outdoor at Shedd Park Lowell MA!
Boot Camp is a class that uses joint movement and full body functional exercises to generate the correct intensity to increase a metabolic effect. The focus is on movement not muscle groups to developed your strength, muscular definition and stamina. This is an energizing class with numerous health benefits.
The 30 minute class incorporates: Sprints, Walking, Running, Power Squats, Lunges, Push Ups, Core Conditioning, Jumping, Stretching, Sport Drills, Functional Training Exercises, Chin Ups and Plyometric Drills.
SLS Fitness will focus on Full Body Training:
Time is probably the one thing you don’t have, so why create stress with long workouts when short intense boot camp workouts are more effective for fat burning. Full body hybrids that work the entire body burn more calories and burn more fat during and after the workouts. Why waste time on long cardio type workouts when you can burn 9 times more fat and boost your metabolism for hours after with full body ME exercises.
Boot Camp is a rest based class. That means the trainer will try to push you so you will want to rest. We will encourage lots of rest periods. SLS Fitness suggests beginner boot camp to all new exercisers.
SLS Fitness offers indoor and outdoor boot camp! Starting in late April thru November, SLS Fitness trainers offer outdoor classes during the nice weather. Not only is it physically challenging, but emotionally and spiritually uplifting as well!

I am new to exercise, is this for me?
We offer great beginner boot camp classes and new to exercise programs. Beginners always start slow! The SLS Fitness trainers advise you to always start with the beginner boot camp, and then graduate to the regular boot camp class! We would rather you feel like you did very little the first few classes. Your body needs to adjust to this slowly. Boot Camp is challenging! Trainers will increase your intensity slowly. We are committed to helping you take charge of your health and get your body moving. Make sure you wear a heart rate monitor. Heart rate monitoring is very important if you’re new to fitness. These can be purchased at stores like Sports Authority.
What type of footwear will I need?
You will need cross training sneakers. The life span of a sneaker is 3 to 4 months if you are an active exerciser. So check and make sure you have proper foot wear.
What does it cost?
Classes are $15 for a drop in class, or you can buy a monthly membership at SLS Fitness.
Weather and Clothing:
Please wear comfortable clothing. If you’re taking outdoor boot camp classes, dress appropriately. Weather can change in New England quickly. Always watch daily announcements for thunder storms and snow! No classes are held if there is thunder and lightning.
Water:
You will need to bring a water bottle.
I am nervous I won’t be able to do the class?
Boot Camp can be intimidating and it is hard, but you will start slow even if you are an experienced fitness person. We will encourage you to try the first class slow. The trainers care about your safety and want you to feel comfortable with the workout. SLS Fitness trainers are comfortable with all levels of experience. We will encourage you to work at your own pace and rest when needed. The boot camp class is designed to be Rest Based Interval Training.
What is Rest Based Interval Training?
Rest based means we will try to push you so you will want to rest. Trainers will encourage lots of rest periods. You will need to listen to your body. If you are new to exercise, you will walk for the first few weeks, no running or sprinting until you master power walking.
Health Considerations:
Before joining any new exercise program, always check with your physician. You will need a physicians note for anyone pregnant, has heart considerations or orthopedic restrictions.
How many days should I do Boot Camp?
4-5 days of Boot Camp is optimal. On other days, we love cross training (muscle confusion) cycling, weight training, kickboxing or running! SlS Fitness trainers always promote lots of weight training!
