Shannon grew up in Lowell and is a graduate of Lowell High School where she played soccer and ran medium distance races on the girls track team. She went on to attend the University of Massachusetts Lowell and earned her Bachelors Degree in Nursing in 2001. She currently works as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Lowell General Hospital, but has also worked at some of the top Boston hospitals in critical care, trauma, and emergency room environments.
She continues to be an avid runner, running in the early morning hours and runs in several local races each year. While she enjoys cardio and endurance exercises, she loves strength training and using just her own body weight to exercise. Shannon started taking Barre and Pilates classes several years ago and loved how they incorporated balance, flexibility, endurance, and strength training. She found that those methods were key components to keeping her fit and strong both during her pregnancies and after the births of her three children.
Shannon’s enthusiasm for fitness inspired her to become a certified instructor and help others reach their lifestyle goals through physical activity. She strives to create a fun, yet challenging environment and hopes to inspire her students to feel strong and confident about themselves. Shannon knew that she wanted to become part of the SLS team after she and her husband attended the 18th annual Fitness for a Cure event. She loved the energy and passion of Sherri and the SLS team, and strives to embody that spirit in all of her classes.
