Amanda Delworth, Spin Instructor
Spin Instructor
Amanda was a competitive tap and jazz dancer in her youth, but she didn't find fitness until after struggling with an eating disorder as a teenager. She learned that food and movement were exactly what her body needed to heal. Amanda proceeded to try various kinds of activities including kickboxing, hiking, spin, yoga and dance classes. It wasn't until her 40's that Amanda started weight lifting. Her love of weights and biking lead her to get a personal training certification and then a Schwinn certification for indoor cycling.
Amanda started her career working in residential treatment where she met her husband. She went on to work at the Head Start program and then onto the Lowell public schools. She’s been a social worker for 20 years working with middle school and elementary school students. As part of her work, she educates children on paying attention to their bodies and using movement to cope with stress and trauma. Amanda is also a coach for “Girls on the Run”. An organization that educates girls on the importance of exercise and nutrition, along with encouraging leadership and positive self esteem.
Amanda was drawn to SLS and its community. She loves the idea of a close knit gym community that supports its members, and feels she has finally found that here. Amanda also took owner Sherri Sarrouf’s classes in the past and loved the energy and encouragement so she’s been a fan of SLS for a number of years.
When Amanda isn't on the weight floor, yoga or spin studio, she's a wife and a mom to two children, aged 14 and 10.
